Women's team hires GMFormer Northwestern women's head coach Marcia McDermott has been appointed general manager of Chicago's new women's pro soccer franchise. McDermott's responsibilities will include overseeing the coaching search. After helping launch Northwestern's women's soccer program in 1994 as its first head coach, McDermott became the first head coach of the WUSA's Carolina Courage in 2001. She most recently was an associate head coach with the University of Illinois women's team.
