Central Florida's Smith to go pro

Central Florida's Kevin Smith, the nation's leading rusher this season, changed his mind and will turn pro, he confirmed Sunday night.

Smith seriously challenged Barry Sanders' NCAA record of 2,628 rushing yards in a season, but finished 61 yards short. The running back was hailed as a hero three weeks ago for deciding to stay in school to earn a degree and help build UCF's burgeoning program.

"I reviewed the season as a whole, talked to my mother and expressed myself with my mother," Smith told The Associated Press. "She basically told me, 'Do what makes you happy, because it's only you that has to put the input in order to get he output.'"

Smith's decision was first reported by WFTV, Orlando's ABC affiliate. Smith said at a press conference Dec. 18 he would return to school, defying analysts who said he had nothing left to prove, and would be risking injury with more time in college.

Indian board rejects tour suspension reports

What a disaster this year first the drugs and the AFL now the big dummy spit from Cricket. The Olympics are now a joke American Baseball has a problem as well. Is this some sort of new media trick to get some increased interest in the game I mean I don't even like the game but all this excitement is getting to me. I didn't like the West Coast Eagles either or Ben Cousins but became obsessed with the media coverage and checking every website I could possibly find to get the latest goss. I knew more than the fans and I guess I might find cricket a bit more exciting as well. Just watching and waiting so I can see some Indian looking sideways and an Australian player getting a bit cranky I will then know something has been said.

Dhoni was not playing in the spirit of the game when he did not walk after gloving one to PontingGanguly did not play in the spirit of the game when he did not walk and he edged one to Michael Clark at 2nd slip!Indian excessive appealing is not in the spirit of the game nor is refusing to accept the authority of umpires.Slowing down the game by using stalling tactics in the last session (2 right gloves) is not in the spirit of the game.Threatening to boycott a tour regarding the Harbhajan legal appeal is certainly not in the spirit of the game, that seems more like blackmail!Racism is not in the spirit of the gameTendulkar was not playing in the spirit of the game when he was reported for ball tampering in 2001

Tech 'Solutions' Your Small Biz Can't Use

Instead, he was "fed" an endless stream of meaningless items displayed in an overly large browser window that winds up distracting more than informing. Like Bob, most of the business owners I know have abandoned RSS and gone back to controlling when they get their information. Still don't know what RSS stands for? Trust me, it's just not that important.

2. Spam Filters

I get this question at just about every presentation I give to business owners: "What spam filters do you recommend?" My answer: "None." They all suck. Let's face it: You're not going to eliminate spam in your business. Instead you're going to waste money on the latest filtering technology, which does nothing more than block that key e-mail you were awaiting from a prospective customer. Or you'll require a sender to complete a Sudoku puzzle before "allowing" their e-mail to reach your in-box.

Guide calls for sponsors

A RESIDENTS' association is calling on businesses to help fund a guide book for the community.

The Headington Action Group produces the OX3 guide, with listings for entertainment and services on offer in the Marston and Headington areas. This is the second year the group has set out to produce the guide, which it hopes to deliver to up to 25,000 homes.

Mary Hope, who has been working to put the guide together for the group, said that while some businesses had been signed-up, they needed more sponsorship and advertising before the guide could be distributed.

She said: "We are hoping to have the new guide up and running by Spring, and have had some very positive feedback from people who used last year's guide.

"We are hoping to make the guide bigger than last year and as such we require more sponsorship and advertising.
