Bidding war talk boosts Xfm owner
Shares in GCap Media, the owner of Classic FM, Capital Radio and Xfm, have risen almost 50% as it spurned one bid approach, amid talk more are likely. The surge came as GCap rejected an approach from rival Global Radio that potentially valued it at about 313m. Global, which owns radio stations such as Heart and Galaxy, said that it was assessing its position and it is not clear if it would make a firm offer. But analysts say more consolidation in the sector and more bids are likely. GCap, which also owns the Choice FM brand as well as about 90 digital stations, said that Global's proposed offer of 190 pence per share "significantly undervalued the company", despite being at a 57% premium to its Friday closing price. GCap shares ended the day up 45.5%, or 55p, at 176p.
Why Nash is better than Iverson
With no trace of a sneer in his voice, Hill expressed his opinion that Carter's game was "fool's gold." To those of us who heartily agree with Hill's assessment, his courage and his honesty were both unexpected and refreshing. No clichs, no fudging the issue. Just straight talk from the heart (and from the scouting reports), and to hell with those who disagree. Hill obviously possesses a high-level of maturity as well as the self-confidence born of that emotional ripeness. However the Magic might fare for the rest of the season, Hill will remain a paragon of everything that's right in the NBA. At the other end of the scale, we have Jason Terry and one of his favorite tattoos. First off, let me say that I have no animus whatsoever about anybody's tattoos, neither their right to adorn themselves with body art, nor the appropriateness of the chosen design.
Girls, drums and calypso to play part in Tattoo
Lord Provost George Grubb said: "There is no better place to be in summer than Edinburgh, when thousands descend on our beautiful city to experience the world's greatest celebration of the arts. "The setting for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo could not be more fitting at the entrance to the imposing and historic Castle." Images of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be projected on to the walls of the Castle during the show to mark their diamond wedding anniversary year. The famous lone piper climax to the show will be a lament to mark the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War. Major General Euan Loudon, who is in his first year overseeing the event as chief executive and producer, said: "I feel sure this year's programme will properly maintain the strong traditions and high standards cherished by both performers and spectators throughout the 57 years that the Tattoo has been staged.
History of Denver's 7
The past of Channel 7 is full of historic firsts, both in the city of Denver and the world of television. The station's proud past guides us into a new millennium of excellence in Denver news and community leadership. W.D. Reynolds, a dentist and ham radio enthusiast originally from Minnesota, turned his hobby into the origins of Denver's first broadcast media. In 1922, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover granted Reynolds one of the first commercial broadcasting licenses in the country. Reynolds' KLZ radio and television stations would soon become the leaders of Denver broadcast media. KLZ originated Denver's first radio broadcasts on 560 AM in 1922. In 1947, 106.7 KLZ-FM became the first FM station on the air west of St. Louis. KLZ-TV Channel 7 went on the air as a CBS affiliate in 1953 and established a reputation for excellence early on.
Head 'em off at the past
The American Cancer Society sent me a band and also distributed bands through its 3,000 community centres in 50 states. Hagman also pushed this message on radio, TV and magazine ads. Hopefully this cured some smokers, but obviously not all. 'IN THE HEAD' "The problem," I remarked, "Is that the trouble isn't in the wrist, it's in the head. What people really need is a hammer to knock some sense into their brains." That's when one of my children exclaimed "They need a Gifford-Jones Stopper-Bopper!" I wouldn't last too long in my profession if I bopped patients on the head for their faulty lifestyles. But handing out a small hammer to them might get the message across. Wives could bop husbands on the head, and vice versa, in an effort to rid one another of hazardous habits.
Driving drunk can make you a ‘criminal’
Here's a pretty good reason why you should mind your road manners and avoid driving when drunk. If you are found guilty of these offences, a criminal case may be slapped on you — Delhi Police's latest and potent weapon to clean up the roads. A criminal case is no joke, it will continue to rankle you long after that minor incident of driving after couple of pegs had taken place. You may spoil your chances of getting a government job, of procuring an arms licence and even of getting a passport and visa. There are other things also — like having to tick a humiliating box on your US university application form, continuing to explain again and again for a long, long time why you were criminally charged. “Since January 1, 113 people have already been arrested under IPC 279.
